Today we meet a Spinzone Instructor who is truly passionate about fitness and helping others get in shape. Anthony is a certified Personal Trainer and Spin Instructor and he certainly knows how to lead an entertaining spin class! On Tuesdays at Spinzone his back to back classes at 6pm and 7pm are always jam packed. Anthony opens up about his secret love for cheesy music and tells us about his mission to complete the six world major marathons. After recently running the Dublin marathon in under 3 hours we don’t think it’ll take him long!
What inspired you to become a Personal Trainer and Spin Instructor?
I strongly believe in the necessity for an active lifestyle, encompassing a balance of all the compulsory components of fitness. Over the years, it has given me great satisfaction to pass along my existing knowledge and enthusiasm with the highest standard of service, safety and professionalism to those wanting to adapt to a lifestyle of physical and mental well-being.
Outside spin classes how do you keep fit?
Away from putting my Personal Training clients through their paces and instructing spin classes I have a massive love for middle and long distance running. I’m currently on a mission to accomplish the six world major marathons. I’m one down (Boston), with five to go. I recently qualified for Chicago & aim to take that on in October 2017.
How do you fuel up for all this training?
With all the training runs and events I compete in, as well as my spin classes, planning my meals in advance is very important. Burning an average of 3,000 to 5,000 calories a day means that my intake never stops. Finding the right balance of clean carbs, proteins & fibres is key to maintaining and increasing my everyday strength and fitness.
For my pre Spinzone meal it's always brown pasta and tuna with sun-dried pesto. Post workout I will have a protein shake within 15 minutes to make sure my muscles have the best possible chance of quick recovery and to help maintain muscle growth.
What do you like to do when you’re not training?
As a big foodie away from work I love to find new places for brunch/dinner, as well as hunting down "the new best coffee in Dublin". A qualified barista, I would love have my own unique cafe/coffee shop one day!
Finally, what music do you like and what are your favourite tunes for spinning classes?
I'd rather not discuss my favourite music as I may lose class numbers. (Let's say my spin music is a cover up) Take That!!
